Stanley Kubrick's "2001: A Space Odyssey" It was released 53 years ago, in 1968—a year before the Apollo 11 moon landing. The special-effects techniques developed for the film were unprecedented and lead to a myriad of more science-fiction movies, such as "Star Wars." I especially loved the sound effects.
